Learning to Breathe

    One of the hardest things for me to master in yoga is the breathe. Although breathing is part of movement, so often I find myself holding my breath in difficult poses. The process of reteaching myself to not hold the breath in times of “distress” for my body has been life long process.
    When I can focus my awareness, the less automatic becomes the automatic.
    “Hanging on” seems to be one theme that runs in my life. Part of my process of being a teacher has been to “practice what I teach”. It has actually made me a much BETTER practitioner as the things that I lead others to do is a visual and mental reminder that I am “doing it too”.
