    Most think of asana when they think of yoga. Although most don’t know the word they do know movement. Social media promotes yoga asana as extremely limber, skinny females doing unthinkable bends and mutations with their body. Which I find amusing knowing that when yoga was new basically only men did it!
    Regardless of what social media promotes and what the general public thinks, yoga asana is accessible to all who seek it. Modifications are the key to making and keeping novice yogis happy. My Marilynism is “Yoga isn’t about touching your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down”.

    Introspection and personal growth through self-reflection is the essence of yoga. It’s not in the doing but rather the being.


    I agree that making asanas accessible is important Encouraging steady and comfortable movement with appropriate props is a first step for students.
